It has many features which you would not get in a normal web browser email client. Some of you may find it a bit confusing while configuring Ms Outlook for your Gmail account. So let me show you the easy step how to how to sync gmail and outlook.
In the Settings you need to go to Forwarding and POP/IMAP option, now select Enable POP for all mail. Now come to the Configure your email client, click on Configuration instructions. Now save.
In the above when you click on Configuration instruction a new page will open. In this new page click on Enable POP.
Wait for the new page to be loaded. Here select Outlook.
When you select Outlook, it will redirect you to another page. In this page look for the option "turn on access for less secure apps". Click on it
Another page will open. Here select Turn on . In this way you are enabling Gmail for Outlook.
Open your MS Outlook. Go to Tools and select Account Settings.
Account Settings window will open, click on New, you will see a new window to Add New E-mail Account. Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types. Click on Next button.
Now here in choose E-mail service, select Internet E-mail. click Next.
This is where you have to manually configure the settings
a) In Your Name field write company name or your name.
b) In Email Address field write your full Gmail address.
a) Account Type will be POP3.
b) For incoming mail server use pop.gmail.com.
c) For Outgoing mail server(SMTP) use smtp.gmail.com.
a) In User Name field write the full Gmail id.
b) In Password field give the password of your Gmail id.
c) Select Require logon using Secure Password Authentication(SPA). Now click on More Settings button.
When you click More Settings another Window opens. Choose the Tab Outgoing Server and check the box "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication", select the button "Use same settings as my incoming mail server". Click OK.
Now choose Advanced Tab, Set 995 port number for Incoming server (POP3) with SSL, check requires encrypted connection(SSL). For Outgoing server (SMTP) with SSL, set port number 465. Type of encrypted connection will be SSL. Increase the Server Timeouts to 6 minutes 30 seconds. Click OK to save. See the image below for better reference.
Now come back to the below tab again. See the image. Click on Test Account Settings to check the if the setting is working or not.
